Why We Started with Texas

Why We Started with Texas

Every brand has a starting point.
Ours was never about choosing the biggest market or chasing trends. It was about meaning.

Texas isn’t just a state on a map. It represents pride, independence, and a deep connection to place. For many people, Texas is not where they live. It’s who they are. That sense of identity was the foundation of Home Town States.

We wanted to create wall art that felt personal. Not generic decor. Not mass-produced pieces that could belong anywhere and nowhere at the same time. Something that instantly says: this is my place.

State Pride Is Not a Trend

In the U.S., state pride runs deep. Offices display it. Businesses are built around it. Homes reflect it. People don’t just say they are American. They say they are Texan, Pennsylvanian, Californian.

We saw that pride expressed everywhere except in wall art that felt refined, lasting, and thoughtfully made.

Most options were either overly decorative or completely flat. We believed there was room for something better: handcrafted pieces that respect both design and identity.

Why Texas First

Texas had to be the beginning.

Not because it’s the largest state. Not because it’s the loudest.
But because if a product resonates in Texas, it will resonate anywhere.

Texas buyers value craftsmanship. They notice material quality. They care how something is made, not just how it looks. It was the right proving ground for our approach.

Starting with Texas forced us to get everything right from the beginning:

  • clean silhouettes
  • balanced proportions
  • natural wood textures
  • installation that feels effortless

No shortcuts.

Designed to Feel Permanent

Our pieces aren’t meant to follow seasonal trends. They’re designed to stay on the wall for years.

We work with layered wood to create depth and shadow instead of relying on paint or graphics. Natural grain variations ensure no two pieces are the same. What you receive isn’t just a product. It’s a finished object with its own character.

This approach slows production. And that’s intentional.

One State at a Time

Home Town States isn’t about selling every state all at once.
It’s about building this collection carefully, one place at a time.

Each state map begins with understanding its shape, proportions, and how it should live on a wall. Some states work best in wide formats. Others need height or balance. We don’t force uniformity where it doesn’t belong.

Texas was the first chapter. Others follow, but never automatically.

Built for Spaces That Matter

Our maps are designed with real environments in mind: offices, meeting rooms, entryways, and workspaces where decisions are made and time is spent.

These are places where identity matters. Where a wall shouldn’t be empty, but it also shouldn’t shout. The goal is presence, not noise.

Looking Ahead

Texas is where the story starts, not where it ends.

Home Town States will continue to grow in the same way it began: thoughtfully, deliberately, and with respect for each state’s character.

If you’re proud of where you’re from, we think that story deserves a place on your wall.
